Marfa Skies

by Pat Byrne

/

about

I wrote this song during my first visit to Marfa, TX. It happened to be the day after I met my girlfriend, who was in New York. I was happy that I was in this amazing place, but frustrated because I wanted to be with her.

lyrics

How’s New York this time of year?
It would be nice if you could hear
This silence washing over me.
It’s been a while since I’ve felt so free.
I’m walking these abandoned streets
Beneath Marfa Skies.

The Marfa skies, help me realize
That the love turns up, when the sun goes down
In these Marfa skies
I’ve never seen a night so rich
You can’t see these stars from Brooklyn Bridge
All those city lights will blur your view
But this moon these stars are there with you

There are things that
we can’t see
And we’ll never fully understand
Won’t you come and walk with me
Together in the moonlight sand
And we could talk about the universe
Beneath Marfa Skies.

The Marfa skies, help me realize
That the love turns up, when the sun goes down
In these Marfa skies

I’ve never seen a night so rich
You can’t see these stars from Brooklyn Bridge
All those city lights will blur your view
But this moon these stars are there with you

SO rest your cheek down on my chest,
You’ll never be my second best.
I wanna stare into your chestnut eyes
And lie with you beneath Marfa skies.
Lie with you beneath Marfa skies
